Our Work Has Only Begun!

Were you up late last night watching the map turn red? This was a victory for our second amendment, and I want to thank each of you for getting out to vote and encouraging others in our firearm and hunting communities to exercise this right.

I also want to caution all that the next four years is not a time for complacency. In fact there is so much work to do to ensure that our Second Amendment lives on. These are our points of action:

Education
This is part of the mission of the NRA, to train in the safe and responsible handling and ownership of firearms. Even though we make strides on this front, we need to do more. Tell your friends and family about classes, events like Women on Target or NRA Days for youth, become an RSO or NRA instructor. Every American should know the 4 rules of gun safety!

Culture
One of the biggest attacks against the Second Amendment is the misrepresentation of our community. That is why we are intentional to share the stories of education, empowerment, accomplishment, and community that is happening in Oklahoma. Support our work with the Sharpshooter through advertisements, passing on your copies, and sharing the articles on social media. Our work there is to show who we truly are.

Membership
Your membership and support of the Oklahoma Rifle Association helps in our work with legislators, to have programs that educate and build community, and to share your stories. Additionally, membership and support of the NRA keeps the Second Amendment strong at a federal level. We need both organizations to do vital work at each level of government.

It’s Time to Work!
One of the most 2nd Amendment friendly Presidents of our modern age was re-elected, but it does not mean we can rest. No, there is much to be done in the upcoming four years to grow our community and welcome all to enjoy the empowerment, community, competition, and protection that comes from gun ownership. The next election is counting on us.
