Exciting Legislation for 2025!
There are many bills that we are working with our legislators on, but there are two in particular that are exciting for Oklahoma gun owners. Senator Dosset has brought the gun safe tax credit back, made it successfully through the Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee, and is moving forward.
Representative Nick Archer is also working on HB 2028 which also introduces tax exemption for the purchase of gun safes, firearm ammunition, firearm sales and attachments such as optics. It was approved and will be moving forward! This not only supports our basic rights as gun owners, but supports us by exempting these purchases (which can add up for those involved with hunting, competitions, and sports). Supporting our Friends in Iowa!
ORA President and NRA 2nd VP, Mark Vaughan, braved the cold and visited fellow state association, Iowa Firearms Coalition, this past week! Yes, there was a place even colder than us, but with negative temperatures, many went to the Iowa State capitol for their legislative day including NRA CEO, Doug Hamlin.
The work of a State Association is critical, and many of the leadership in our state associations stand by each other to support and encourage in our day-to-day work. Thanks Mark for extending our Oklahoma warmth and camaraderie to our friends in Iowa!
