Since 1975, the NRA has created the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action, known as the NRA-ILA. Since its creation, the NRA-ILA has defended our Second Amendment rights against domestic and foreign anti-gun advocates. From victories in the Supreme Court, most recently in 2023 with NYRPA v. Bruen, and the political victories of working on the FrontLines in getting Second Amendment supporters to elect President Trump as the 45th President of the United States in 2016 and the 47th in 2024.
The NRA-ILA is driven by their FrontLines approach to Defending our Second Amendment Rights. The NRA-ILA Grassroots Division leads those FrontLines. On those FrontLines, you will find your NRA-ILA Grassroots Field Coordinator. This is the person who is your primary contact to get involved and engaged with your NRA-ILA to Defend Our Second Amendment rights.
Here in Oklahoma, our Grassroots Field Coordinator is Kelvin Curtis. Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Kelvin was not raised in a traditional household that supported the Second Amendment. It was the complete opposite. However, with his love of history, the U.S. Constitution, and our country, he is willing to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you in defending our Second Amendment rights. Kelvin has been involved in grassroots advocacy for over 13 years, with the past 5 ½ years spent serving with the NRA-ILA. His dedication to grassroots advocacy underscores its importance in defending our Second Amendment rights. You may have received Kelvin’s Legislative Alerts or event invites from the NRA-ILA.
Kelvin, and his wife Amy, have two dogs, Moxy and Hunter. They enjoy spending time camping, hiking, and visiting historical Oklahoma landmarks, including those along Route 66 and in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge in Lawton. These personal interests not only make Kelvin a well-rounded individual but also reflect his deep-rooted love for his state and country.
As the Grassroots Field Coordinator for Oklahoma, Kelvin is a member of the Oklahoma Rifle Association, and he is ready to serve the Sooner State in protecting our Second Amendment rights with you! If you share our passion for defending our Second Amendment rights and would like to learn more about the NRA-ILA and how to get involved with your NRA-ILA Grassroots team in Oklahoma, please reach out to Kelvin. Your engagement as an ORA and NRA member is crucial in this fight.
