Senate Pro Tem Lonnie Paxton’s Senate Bill 631 moves to the House for consideration. Criminals that fire into dwellings or public buildings will serve 85% of their sentence before parole eligibility.
Senator JoAnna Dosset’s SB50 that provides a sales tax exemption on purchasing a gun safe passes the Senate 43-1.
Growing the ORA!
Leadership and members of the ORA have been working to spread the work we are doing on behalf of Oklahoma’s gun owners. Much of this work is in building lasting relationships at the capitol, so that we are able and ready to assist legislators with bills that impact Okalhoma’s gunowners.
Recently ORA President, Mark Vaughan, joined Kevin Wallace at a event with Suzie and Karel Brewster in attendance. They recruited 6 life members to the ORA!

Mark Vaughan on the GOAL Podcast
Having ORA President Mark Vaughan active at a national level with the NRA, gives us in Oklahoma a perspective of what is going across the nation and strong connections with our sister state associations. GOAL, which serves the gun community in Massachusetts, is one such connection and in many ways Massacusetts is on the other end of the spectrum in state gun rights compared to Oklahoma with restrictions in place that make gun ownership nearly impossible.
Recently, GOAL interviewed Mark on their podcast, giving the rest of us a great insight into the freedom we enjoy in Oklahoma, the great need to protect that freedom, and the work that leadership, such as Mark, are working on with the NRA 2.0 initiative. Be sure to listen!
State Air Rifle & Pistol Championship Matches
Be sure to register for our upcoming State Air Rifle Match on March 22 at the Oklahoma City Gun Club. Relays begin at 9 AM and refreshments will be available with an ORA donation throughout the day. Kick off 2025 with our first state match of the year!
