By Rachael Miller-Lansdown Red Castle Gun Club, Tulsa – Rachael organizes the Oklahoma Service Rifle Championship at Red Castle Gun Club in Tulsa. This is the second year the ORA has collaborated on this championship.
The three matches consisted of a 500 PT XTC Non-EIC Match, an 800 PT XTC Match, and ended with an Excellence in Competition Match, that would provide points towards the prestigious Distinguished Rifleman’s Badge. Shooters traveled from Kansas, Arkansas, and various cities and town in our home state of Oklahoma.
Red Castle Gun Club hosted the Oklahoma Service Rifle State Championship Fall Classic for a second year at their beautiful outdoor range at Zink Ranch. The match provided both service rifle and match rifle shooters three days of across the course CMP Sanctioned matches. Out of state as well, Oklahoma state competitors having ORA Membership, could buy for their chance as the OK State Aggregate Match winner.
Sunday’s final match had two competitors within 5 points of one another for the overall champion. Last year’s champion Matt Wood, from Arkansas and Oklahoma’s Roger Farley. When the final cease fire was called, Matt Wood would repeat as the Oklahoma State Champion shooting an impressive 1771 -72 X, Roger Farley taking second place with 1748 57X. Barrett Kilgore earned 6 points toward his distinguished rifleman’s badge, and his son, youth shooter Trenton Kilgore shot his first EIC Match.
